Jack and Jill Playgroup is a well established and well loved local playgroup in the village of Hassocks. We provide a nurturing, fun, safe and stimulating environment for children from 2 years until they go to school.
We have a wonderful staff team who are highly skilled and are chosen as much for their love of working with children, sense of fun and dedication as they are for their qualifications and experience. All staff are qualified in paediatric First Aid and to Level 3 in Early Years. We also have two SENCo trained staff and one in Makaton and all hold DBS checks.
Jack and Jill follows the Early Years Foundation Stage and we have a key person for each child whose responsibility is to monitor their development and welfare, and liaise with parents regularly. Each child has a learning journal full of observations and pictures, which follows them to school and eventually home for special memories of friends and fun!
The playgroup is situated in beautiful green playing fields at Belmont Sports Pavilion, just off London Road, Hassocks. The pavilion is owned by Mid Sussex District Council. We use the fields and play park throughout the year for nature trails, fun and games. We have a secure outdoor area that the children love; playing on the equipment, riding bikes and scooters, chilling out in the tent and playing with construction toys, having fun with messy play. Indoors the children and staff enjoy reading, daily arts and crafts, role playing, dressing up, group singing and stories.
Jack and Jill are a registered charity (No 1026771). We have a parent run committee that supports the manager in the running of the playgroup, and we have a parent led fundraising team who does fantastic work in putting on a variety of local events to raise much needed funds for the playgroup. We welcome and actively encourage new members, it’s a great way to meet new people, support your child’s learning and have fun along the way!
